It was intended to be a replacement for RS-232C. It offers much better speed and noise immunity, as well as longer cable length. It comes in different physical layouts, including RJ45, DB9, and DB25. The maximum data rates on RS-232 can reach up to 20 Kbps. RS-232 is by far the most popular interface used on devices such as PC COM ports as well as networking, consumer, and industrial devices for distances up to 15 meters (50 feet). I just have limited resources, and google doesn't really tell me much about how i can fix my Packet Tracer issue.Mini-USB or RJ45 – RS-232 with Cisco proprietary console pinoutĬommonly used asynchronous serial interfaces are of three types: EIA/TIA RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485.

Also FYI, I don't have access to the Production configuration, just yet.Īgain, thanks for taking your time in looking into this, i really appreciate it. So basing on my understanding of our Network connectivity, I am slowly plotting them Cisco devices in Packet Tracer (as close to the Prod env as i could possible get), starting from a simple connectivity first, then planning on going to the complicated ones, once I understood all simple ones. I am new the company I am working for right now, and since I don't have much experience with Cisco devices, my real objective in doing this is to learn how things are connected and their configuration, thru Packet Tracer. Thanks for your responses guys! i just wanted to let you know that the real environment works (Production envi), all hardware and stuff. No service timestamps debug datetime msec I forgot to mention, I tried changing the type of cable connection from "straight-through" to "cross-over", between the modem and the ASA, and there's no difference. I'm starting with a diagram and the configuration files of the ASA and Routers, and please let me know if there's anything else you need to help me out troubleshoot challenge i have. I am also not sure what to attach or post here, to help you guys troubleshoot. I was hoping somebody here would be able to help what am I doing wrong. I cannot for some reason, find out how make ASA work together with the rest of the set up. I added an ASA 5505 in between the Modem and Router 1841. Now, I modified the setup from the example in the video to be a little bit close to what I have in the office. A workstation was able to access the simulated internet setup. I followed the video and recreate the Packet Tracer file and after I was done, everything was working.

So, I was following a video online that simulates an internet connection configuration. I am not well versed with Cisco equipment but know a little bit with networking, that's why I decided to learn Packet Tracer.
